Cowboy Talk: With the new guidelines for head injuries in the NFL it appears when a guy gets dinged like DeMarcus Ware did he can't finish practice even if it was only a couple plays it sounds like it's mandated that you have to set up a day of practice. While he was OK yesterday he did setup so he is not practicing but they expect him back today. Today will be a non contact practice they don't even have shells on much less shoulder pads. It looks like Tyson Smith is dressed out. Marion Barber they were doing a one on one running back pickup drill and Tyson Smith comes out and totally gets the better of him. I didn't see that one but then he comes right back at Barber and Barber stands him up put some on the ground there was a loud smack and all my goodness, just a nasty pretty much a helmet to helmet smack as loud as you can hear it. It was a pancake without coming down with a pancake and the crowd just went crazy. Yesterday on the walk off Wade Phillips threw out a couple of names of some of the guy's he thought were doing pretty well and one of the names that came out was Joe B. The left backup left guard talking about he among all the guys on the backups on the offensive line he's the guy those having the best camp. I've been hearing a bit here and there, pieces about him it appears that sometimes guys on the offensive line take a few years before they develop but it sounds like he's coming along to the point where they started working him at center to because remember when they keep that backup guy active like they did last year with Corey Procter, they want that guy to play center and guard. I know when he was signed in 06 I think in the middle of the season that was one asset that he had that he can play both positions. It looked like he got a little work at center on one and one drills I noticed him two days ago in one on one drills he was standing guys up, nobody could get around him very impressive. He was originally a sixth round draft pick picked up by Carolina ways by Caroline in 05 caught on with Miami briefly. The other name that came up yesterday, Wade Phillips seems pretty high Danny Emindola which is no surprise he talked about how the really felt like he was competing for a spot on the 53 man roster. Obviously they all are but when the coach says that it means you have a legitimate chance and do not just some guy out here this just help filling out the practice training camp. Orlando Scandrick fifth round draft choice was also a name mentioned yesterday he's actually pushing Mike Jenkins right now the first round draft choice, they thought at this point he was really looking good with a depth, it's not like Jenkins is playing poorly but the Scandrick guy has really caught their eye.
I asked Dave Campo couple days ago have you ever seen in your 20 something years in this league have you ever seen this much depth, competition, in training camp in that position, he said no. I don't want to compare talent to the nineties corners that we had in Dallas which is top to bottom guys competing for spots, he had never seen it. The depth on this cornerback roster is rather remarkable a specially if Adam Jones is reinstated. I think with this much talent and cornerback your special teams would get better because some of those guys are your best talents.
